About Theresa: Visionary, Advocate, and Equity Specialist
Theresa Alphonse, MPH is a visionary healthcare leader, public health strategist, and advocate for transforming systems to better serve structurally subjugated communities. With over a decade of experience, she has worked at the intersection of healthcare, community well-being, and policy, ensuring that patients and families receive the resources, care, and respect they deserve.
A graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Theresa has extensive experience in clinical quality improvement, patient-centered care, and social determinants of health. She has worked across sectors—from hospital systems to grassroots organizations—developing strategies that center people’s real-life experiences rather than institutional checkboxes. As an alumna of the Massachusetts Institute for Community Health Leadership (MICHL) and current faculty member, she mentors and trains the next generation of public health leaders.
Theresa is also a Certified Community Health Worker, Life Coach, and Doula, bringing a holistic, people-first approach to her work. She understands that health is not just about medicine—it’s about dignity, agency, and the right to thrive. As founder of Driving Equity Consulting, she partners with organizations to build strategies that uplift and support communities through meaningful action rather than performative gestures. Her thought leadership is deeply influenced by her Haitian heritage, global experiences, and the philosophies of transformative leaders like Paul Farmer and Malcolm X.
Beyond her work in healthcare, Theresa has contributed to research on Haitian health disparities and remains committed to creating lasting change—whether through policy, direct service, or shaping the next wave of changemakers.
